Where Do You Belong?

What’s your identity?

Is it defined by the books you read or the clothes you wear? Or maybe the people you surround yourself with?

As much as we hate to admit it, we often struggle with who we are.

I must be a fit person because I work out everyday.. but what if you don’t work out for a month? Would your identity change?

My identity must be defined by my family. What if your family comes from all over? You identify with everyone but at the same time with no one fully.

What if we could choose our identities? If we decided where we belonged and what we spent our time on. If our habits became our identity. If we could shape and change them daily.

How are your perspectives and attitudes shaping your identity?

Just Show Up

Ahhh. This is the most difficult part though right? To just show up.

Have you ever agreed to do something and right up to the point where you know you have to go you just internally debate whether you should or not?

Just show up.

Don’t think about the details right now.

Just show up.

Today, this woman who came in to speak at the club I’m in said something that really resonated with me. She said this:

“Every day you create your brand. What you say you will do should align with what you actually do. Every day counts.”

Just show up.

ummm… Show up for?

Show up for your friends

“True friends are those who are there for your big moments and your bad moments”. Show up for the people you care about. It means more to them than you can ever imagine. Just your presence alone. Be there for the moments you wish they would be there for if you were in their shoes.

Show up for the promises you made

Do you ever make promises months in advance and when it nears the date you just feel like backing out? Don’t. Follow through. Maybe in the future you won’t agree to the same thing again, but be the person who is true to their word. It goes a long way.

And last but not least, show up for yourself

What do you want? What are your goals? Show up for them. Go to the gym if you want to exercise more. Commit to yourself. Take an hour to practice your art every day. Who do you want to be? Show up for it and make yourself proud. Your soul will thank you.

The Power of a Phone Call

Ever since middle school, I have been obsessed with talking on the phone.

Throwback to the days when you would memorize all of your friend’s numbers because you called through your house phone. LOL. I remember being paranoid that my parents would hit the intercom to listen to my convos. I’m sure my conversations were super juicy.

Even today, a good phone call does so much. Sadly, so many of my loved ones are super far away. Scheduling time to talk or getting random calls from them is one of the jewels in my life.

It’s a great feeling to connect with my favorite people. In my busy day to day life, I forget about the deep connections I have with my life-long friends and family.

They are my motivation. They bring me so much energy and happiness. I wish nothing but the best for them and it’s a great feeling catching up and hearing what’s going on in their worlds:

future goals, travel plans, what they are facing day to day,

then we laugh at silly memories, reminisce, .

I am truly blessed and if you feel the same way about people in your life. Schedule time to talk to them now.

With physical distance, it’s so important to check on your loved ones. Make sure they are good.

A good phone call goes a long way. Especially when you are running low on motivation and are losing sight of purpose.

Hearing the voice of a loved one is good for the soul!

Make more phone calls.

Not texts.
