Yuri owns “Simply Me by Grace” a high-end clothing collection made in Italy. Her clothes are made from quality and are up to trend. Already interested in learning more? Check out her website and give her a follow on Facebook @simplymebygrace

So, with out further ado.. the interview!

What sparked your interest in being in the fashion industry?

I’ve always known that I wanted to work in a clothing store. I started my first job at forever 21 when I was 18. After my first job I loved it.

What has been your inspiration?

Everything I do is for God. He is who I look up to and I am where I am today with my business because of him. This is why my business has Grace in the name; it is by his Grace this company came to pass. He has guided me every step of the way. “For I know the plans I have for you…” Jeremiah 29:11. That’s how it all began for me.

What’s a Fun Fact About you?

I like to go to worship concerts, and jump like a little girl. (Lol. I love it!)

What advice can you give someone who would like to join the fashion industry?

Follow your heart and figure out what your true passion is and give it your 110%. Always be a leader! Always stand out no matter what you do. Be the person that sets a trend. Don’t be the one that follows it. Always go against the wind, that’s how great designers are born!

Thank you Yuri for sharing your advice and inspiration.

Why You Need to Do More Story-Telling

Okay funny story- are you ready?

I used to work at an elementary school- and boy if you don’t know what roasting is you will learn a thing or two while working there- okay that’s besides the point.

So, do you remember being in elementary school and always trying to act cooler or more mature than you were? Yes you do- don’t lie.

Anyways, in the classroom we had a book shelf filled with books that I never once saw a kid touch. Very sad, I know. One day, I decided to pull out a few of my childhood favorites and read them out loud. I just sat at a table by myself and began. No fair -warning- nothing.

At first, the kids were all snickering. “Why is ms. Coco just reading out loud randomly?” They started making jokes about the books, but then something funny happened.

Within five minutes of me reading, half of the classroom was sitting by me. They began to truly listen. No jokes- just engaged fourth and fifth graders. While the other half wasn’t gathered around, they were still listening as well and would occasionally run over to look at some pages as I told the stories.

Funny right? I think so at least. It’s because we all love a good story.

What teachers did you like the best? The ones that made connections through story-telling or the ones who just read off the bullet points and left you wondering “what’s the point”? I think it’s a pretty easy question to answer, right?

Story-telling draws people in! That’s why we love movies, hearing other people’s experiences, etc. It connects us to one another.

They also help us remember things better. I am much more likely to remember new information if it’s told in story form versus just having to memorize words and definitions.

Tell more stories! It makes people want to listen more and it makes it easier to connect with others.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk LOL.

And as always, thanks for reading!

This Mindset Will Change Your Life

What situations do you feel most comfortable in?

The ones that are familiar and rarely challenge you, right? Where you are content with being as is.

What situations scare you?

Most times, it’s in those unfamiliar situations. Places where people know more than you, there are conversations going on that you have never heard before, and the places where you start questioning your own ideas and habits.

In these moments, it’s easy to resort to thoughts like wow these people are just smarter and better than me and wish you were back in your safe spaces. Trust me, I have been there.

But, you know what? Those thoughts come from a place of fear. A fear of trying- yet not being good enough..

Sucks, right? I know.

What I can tell you with 100% certainty is this:

Who you are today is not a permanent state of being.

The situations where you are the most uncomfortable are truly helping you grow (growing pains). Yes it’s scary, but how can you get to where you want to be if you do the same things every day?

Remember this- What you know this year is far more than what you knew last year. Your knowledge and experience is up to you. The more new experiences that you immerse yourself in, the quicker you will grow and learn.

No one was just born with knowledge and experience. Those things are built over time and it’s up to you to decide at which speed.

So in order to grow, you must realize that you can.

Simple as that.

What you may not know today, you can learn tomorrow. And just because you don’t know something right now, doesn’t mean you won’t ever know it.

You are constantly growing and becoming a different version of yourself.

How are you going to look at your life from day to day? Find new growth opportunities daily.

I promise you’ll be uncomfortable, but it will be so worth it. I promise.

Thanks for reading & remember invest time into yourself.

You are worth it.

Finding Your True Happiness

Advice + Inspiration, Uncategorized

I was talking to my aunt over the summer (feels like so long ago!) and one thing she said to me that has stuck was this:

“we don’t listen to ourselves enough”

I had never thought about this before. What do you mean by we don’t listen to ourselves enough? We are always with ourselves.

Only in the last month has this quote begun to make sense to me.

How often do you try to shut out certain feelings? Like you almost choose to believe these natural instincts don’t mean anything.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done this. I’ve stayed in situations too long because I chose to avoid that inner voice.

What if your gut feelings were actually trying to tell you something?

I choose to believe they are.

Listen to yourself!

What do you need in this moment? What was the first thing that came to your head? It must mean something.

For me, this has been spending time alone, taking the time to learn something new, and doing things that I am afraid of.

The more you listen to yourself, the more you will do things that align with your purpose. This alignment has brought me an abundance of happiness.

Don’t get me wrong- some days are harder than others, but on these days I realize that I just need to listen more.

Thank you for reading.

I wish you nothing but happiness and remember to just listen to yourself.

What Do You Choose To Believe?

How do you connect and see the experiences in your life?

What is your role in your life story?

How did you get to where you are today?

Your answers to these questions are what you have chosen to believe.

How crazy is it that you can go through the same experience as someone else, yet neither of you will ever describe it in the same way?

Your life is your perception of it.

What is your story and how are you going to tell it?

How you view your past is telling of how your future will be. Do you feel that your past life experiences have been unfair? You will likely continue to feel this way about future experiences as well. You need to change your beliefs to change what you experience.

Did you know that there are millions of contradicting beliefs out there?

Which ones will you choose to believe?

The ideas that empower you or the ones that fit your pitty story?

Do you want to live guided by your hopes or fears?

Choose your beliefs wisely and have a happy day 🙂
