3 Restaurants in the Twin Cities that you Need to Try: Part IV

(Breakfast Edition)

Finish Bistro

finish_bistro

This is their french toast. So good.  I usually go to Finish Bistro to grab a coffee and occasionally a pastry (or two). They have lots of seating- outdoor seating in the summer. And they have weekly events as well.

Colossal Cafe

colossal_cafe

I’m going to be real with you guys right now and say that this photo does NOT do this food any justice. Colossal home makes ALL of their food. Every time I bring a friend here, they rave about it for hours after. It’s truly amazing. The lines get super long, but it is worth it.

Original Pancake House

pancake_house

I eat way too much every time I come here. These are the chocolate chip pancakes that I get every time I go. I’ve also gotten their eggs benedict which I would highly recommend. This place gets extremely busy, so I would suggest that you call ahead.

3 Restaurants in the Twin Cities that you Need to Try: Part III

The Lynhall

LYNHALL

This place is actually so cute. They have the prettiest pastries and the whole place is just aesthetically pleasing. It would be a cute place for a photoshoot. I thin they also have a private room you can use for an event. Their food is great. They have fun coffee flavors as well.

Foxy Falafel

Foxy Falafel

OMG. That box on the left has honey cheese curds. Get. Them. They are the perfect cheese curd. Inside Foxy is cute, very small, but they have some fun art in there.

Spitz (my absolute favorite)

Spitz_Minneapolis

My favorite food is definitely mediterranean and this place, let me tell you, just amazing. I love everything I have ever gotten there. I always get the waffle fries because they come with this tasty chipotle sauce. They also have really good sangria. Did I mention that they have games?

Happy Eating!

Costa Blanca in NE

These are tapas! We came here hungry as cows and ordered like 6 dishes. I’ll be honest, I don’t remember the names of what we got but man it was good. A little pricey, but it was a very good experience.

Barrio

barrio

I love Barrio. They have multiple locations- in St. Paul and Minneapolis. If you sit outside at the one in downtown Minneapolis, make sure you sit at Barrio’s section. The restaurant next door has very similar seating and my friend and I sat and waited at the wrong restaurant for 30 minutes before realizing we weren’t actually sitting at Barrio…oops.

The Handsome Hog

hungry hog

This was my first chicken and waffle experience and to tell you the truth.. I still dream about it. I have never tasted anything so good in my life. Literally life changing. Wow.

You guys.. I swear this food is mouth watering. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND.

Thanks for reading + happy eating 🙂

Aesthetically Pleasing Ice Cream Places

The Loop, CA

img_5712.jpg

This place is so much fun. What’s better than churros and ice cream? Churros in ice cream. They have so many options to choose from and omg I wish they had these in Minnesota.

Waffle Bar, MN

waffle_bar

I need this right now. Waffles and ice cream are another iconic combination. This place is super fun and they have a wall where you can post instagram photos. They also have a cotton candy machine? Pretty cool.

Minnesota Nicecream, MN

MNicecream

I waited in line for this ice cream for like 45 minutes. Luckily, there was a pug in a backpack in front of me which made it more enjoyable. The ice cream looks better than it tastes, but would definitely get it again.

So, have you been to any of these places?

If not, treat yo-self!

3 Restaurants in the Twin Cities that you Need to Try: Part I

Karta Thai

karta thai

This is their red chicken curry. It is phenomenal. So creamy and comes with so much that  I always leave with left overs! It’s a win win. They have great deals and it’s a fun little place.

Mim’s Cafe

This is my all time favorite place to go. My go-to. The staff there is unreal. They are incredibly friendly and welcoming and not to mention they make amazing and authentic food. This picture is of their Shawarma Platter. I always get this (and the falafels on occasion)

Restaurant Alma

You see that thing with a knife sticking in it? That is ricotta cheese that will change your life. I literally would eat that whole thing no questions asked. That is their cheese board and underneath are their wet chips (I think that’s that they’re called) which are great. They taste like buffalo wings. Alma is cute and the servers are very attentive. It’s also a good place to study.

Thanks for reading!

Healthy On-the-Go Lunch Idea

I am always on the go.

Having quick, dishes-free lunches is essential. I am also in college and can’t afford going out to eat everyday (even though sometimes I do..oops).

So for me, this quick, inexpensive, and healthy lunch is a life saver.

I will call it: The Greek Spinach Wrap (only because there is tzatziki in it lol)

So what are the ingredients?

  • spinach wrap
  • tzatziki sauce
  • chicken or turkey
  • choice of lettuce
  • banana peppers
  • avocados (optional)
  • cucumber

Why do I love it?

First of all, it tastes amazing with like no effort what so ever.

Did I mention no dishes? (I wrap it in tin foil)

It’s pretty healthy

Easy to make

Not a basic sandwich

You can switch up the ingredients and it will most likely still taste bomb

It’s not that messy or loud to chew (very important because I usually eat in class- yes I’m that person)

Please try and let me know what you think 🙂

Thanks for reading, have a happy and healthy Tuesday!

Changing Your Relationship with Food

What’s the perfect diet?

What can and can’t you eat?

How many calories are in that?

Our relationship with food has become exhausting. We constantly beat ourselves up for not being perfect and punish ourselves as a result.

I’m not an expert on the perfect diet, by any means, but I have found a few people who have inspired me to think about food in a new way:

The first is Michael Pollan.

I discovered him on the Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations podcast.

The episode is “Conscious Eating”

Michael Pollan’s philosophy is that, “three times a day we get to express our values through food.” He believes that we have let convenient foods take over our diets and that this is making us unhealthy. He talks about the power of cooking your own food and knowing exactly what you put into your body.

Read: Michael Cohen’s 7 Rules for Eating.

If you don’t have the podcast app, here’s the audio from it

The second is Mel Wells.

I discovered her on the Earn Your Happy podcast.

The episode is “231: How Healing Your Relationship with FOOD Can Help You LIVE A FULFILLED LIFE”

Mel’s philosophy is that releasing our need for control around food is the key to having a better life. She emphasizes the importance of listening to your body, letting go of strict rules, and understanding that sometimes our cravings are not actually for the food itself but for some kind of change in our lives.

I summarized her ideas quite a bit, but the podcast I shared with you will do a good job of filling in the gaps and make more sense of the philosophy.

Here website is linked here.

Highly recommend her video as well-

Let me know what you think. Thanks 🙂
