How an Inspiration Board Changed my Life + What I Included in it

At the beginning of every semester, I write a list of goals I want to accomplish. I write them in a notebook, shut it, and forget about them. By the end of the semester, I look back on these goals to realize I didn’t accomplish any of them. So what is my new approach that has already worked better in the three weeks that I’ve used it compared to the years I spent writing them in a notebook? Inspiration Boards.

What I Did:

I grabbed an unused poster board from my room and decided it would work. From here, I added 6 different things to create my inspiration board. Here’s a list of what I included and how they will help you:

  1. My ideal weekly schedule: It will help you picture exactly what you need to do in a week to get closer to your goals.
  2. A motivational quote: to spark your drive. Screen Shot 2018-09-15 at 12.16.20 PM
  3. A list of every single goal I had whether I thought it was possible to accomplish or not. When you read them, they will be fresh on your mind and you will subconsciously attract things that help you get there.
  4. A monthly calendar: I use this as a chain calendar. How does it work? When you do what you’re supposed to do for the day example: you went to the gym, then you mark an “X” on the calendar date. This is proven to keep you motivated to follow through everyday because you will want to avoid losing your streak.photo
  5. Pictures: Visualize. Visualize. How can your dreams come true if you can’t visualize them? “every skyscraper was once a drawing or a vision, same for your dreams- they can’t come true unless you have a clear vision of what they look like” ba9a3f3222e8e4038dc55bcccbc49991
  6. A touch of Aesthetic. Make it cute so you actually want to look at it!

Why has this worked?

I put the inspiration board somewhere where I know I will always see it: on my desk.

I look at it every morning and it reminds me that every single day counts in making my dreams come true. It ensures that my goals will not be forgotten. The quote and photos keep me motivated, the weekly calendar reminds me what I need to do to achieve these goals, and the monthly calendar holds me accountable.

I hope this  inspires you to make your own inspiration board. They are seriously life changing.

Also, let me know if you have any advice for other things that I can add to my inspiration board!
